Celebration of #fatherHOOD

This month, we’re focusing on what is good in the local neighborhoods about our pioneering fathers. Throughout the course of history, documenting the inventors, architects as well as producers among a myriad of noble noteworthy professions has been the responsibility of the community gatekeepers and storytellers.

While I’m very limited in the knowledge and understanding of my Caribbean side of the family, the 2010 earthquake forced me to revisit many unanswered questions about who were the men of the small business owners’ community gone by. They forged for modern day entrepreneurs a road map to construct cities, governments and even thriving economies. Yet, somehow there whereabouts within the elementary history books seem to remain lost in the corners of our forgotten heritage.

In any case, not to begin to bore you with the rhetoric of historical books across an underdeveloped literary landscape coupled with rivers and valleys unexplored, I thought I would highlight my favorite points along my journey home in the Caribbean. It’s a small salute and thank you to those who have worked relentlessly in restoring people, places and things, I finally found out, existed. Merci beaucoup
